what I want to find at filmmakershelp
People helping people succeed in monetizing their work, independence from the broken distribution system.
We are having problems with an old member so to avoid any further potential threats to the group I will be moving all members and their content over to www.streamingindy.ning.com
You will find all the same functionality. And this will be a problem free home.
About Me:
What can I say I'm a filmmaker that wants to help other filmmakers succeed. I'm willing to give anything I have learned and tools I have found to make success a reality to the filmmaker willing to accept what I have to offer without an agenda.
How I use the web to promote my work
PPV Streaming distribution is really the key to what I do. Promoting films directly to the consumer, after permission is granted through a search for their product.

Something important that I think is often missed.

There are a series of steps that I think many miss when planning or preparing for a production.
Really this is so broadly applicable that I thought I would just cut and paste this from Seth Godin's blog here.
Many of us don't have any idea there is a formula to this and I feel I have been the source of too many ideas here so I thought I would start sharing from other sources.

The hierarchy of success

I think it looks like this:

1. Attitude
2. Approach
3. Goals
4. Strategy
5. Tactics
6. Execut… Continue

Still working for all of us.

I want to thank everyone for your continued support. Showing loyalty and willingness to follow me over here These two sites will be merged when I shift us all over to streamingindy.com
I have been working a lot lately on logistics and behind the scenes web development for the distribution model that will make what I am talking about on the seminar video a reality.
I keep running into obstacles which tells me I am definitely doing the right thing. Real distribution for the idependent that puts th… Continue

Do you make art or gas?

I've been working on a web system for almost a year now to help filmmakers get paid for their efforts even with a short film.

There is a way but when I try to explain it most people look at me cross eyed with a false ego based knowing that tells me I'm talking to a sheep. Bleet, bleet.

They all want the theatrical release for their $5000 budget film. and can't see that that will never happen.
The film world doesn't want your film.
Sorry to break it to you but you've been duped. Just like think… Continue

Visionaries often see the wonderous panorama alone.

I have been blogging and doing more blogging about the trends I see moving to the online distribution of film on the internet for some time. When I sit with someone who thinks they are an authority and they haven't got a clue what I am talking about, I just smile and think to myself, you should have listened to me when you had the chance.
I don't need permission to do anything I want to do and regardless of what the self appointed experts think we are going to make this an effective business mod… Continue

Pre production has started and ain't it grand!!

I've been working on a script for me to shoot for a couple of years now. Helped a lot of folks with their films and learned a lot from giving til it hurts on the set. I decided two years ago that I wasn't going to get involved in the Industry as a grip or AD and work my way up through the standard channel like most graduates of the film schools available here and in California. So I started writing and doing little shorts and helped produce and AD for several indy films and a feature. As you can… Continue

Thanks for that, my writing partner and I are always wondering if we should just film stuff ourselves... I mean, like most writers, we feel we are talented at putting pen to paper but most directors we meet have written there own things... thanks for the comment!!!

What website did you mention where I could download a format template?

I might be interested in writing horror. Is there a treatment available? Are you considering scenes by various writers, or all scenes by one?

I'm still working on converting the play. It's pretty dramatic, but since it all takes place in an old cabin with a cast of 4-5, I'm a little concerned about it being too static on film. I'll need help with the kinds of shots that would
improve that. I was thinking of occasionally moving from inside to outside, but the one thing I can't write around is snow, which is the whole reason these strangers are stuck together in this cabin. And there's no way I know of to fake snow.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Rob,
Your site is beautiful, but I'm a bit clumsy yet finding my way around. You said a 10-page minimum script for the contest. Is there a max length? I'm thinking of converting a play I wrote some years ago. I never did anything with it but for some reason it keeps haunting me. The set is simple, the cast small, the action quite dramatic, so it might work. Second question: how perfect does the script format have to be?

I will be glad to be a part of anything that will sanitize any situation. I have a feeling that something has gone amiss but you are trying hard to restrain yourself from exploding. Please don't drop the sledge hammer yet.
