what I want to find at filmmakershelp
I would love to find a way to actually make a living making movies, I've produced, written and directed 3 features, I've have a short in post-production and I've produced tv pilots and I still can't find a way to actually make a living in this industry. In the ideal world I would love to get paid for all my expirences, I know that I can help someone make a great film and get paid in the process. What I would love to do is be part of a filmmakers net work where If a filmmaker needs a hand I can be called on for my service and if I'm making a film I can make a call and have a team ready an willing to make a movie and everone gets paid!!! CAN FILMMAKERSHELP???
About Me:
Eddy Duran started his career as a public access television producer. While working as a box office clerk for the Samuel Goldwyn Company, he worked on various small film productions in New York and L.A. A year later he got his first opportunity in the form of a P.A. on the TV series New York Undercover.

Recognizing the need to create thought-provoking films, Eddy enrolled in courses for filmmaking at NYU, and moved towards producing and directing his first film short Good Thing. Three months later Eddy wrote the script and assembled the team for his first independent feature Stone Cold Killers: Los Jodedores, an urban drama about how the lives of a drug dealer with integrity, a visual artist, an alcoholic, and a violent ex-con, become inextricably bound together in Manhattan’s Washington Heights and Brooklyn’s East New York. Stone Cold Killers was acquired by Maverick Entertainment. Maverick also acquired his second feature, Grand Opening, a comedy about the owner of a dysfunctional supermarket with eccentric employees and cynical customers. Both have been top sellers in Maverick’s library and can be found in any video outlet retailer including Blockbuster and Netflix. Eddy recently completed his third independent feature entitled Shoes. Eddy is developing a pilot for a reality-based show entitled Fox Hunt, chronicling the daily operations of a “real women’s” modeling/entertainment life style agency. Additionally he is currently developing four feature film scripts, which he has written:
On Gun Hill Road, Shanghai Palace, Brooklyn English and King Con. At the moment he is in the process of acquiring the rights to a famous novel by a Dominican writer, which he will write the screenplay, produce and direct the feature film in Spanish.
How I use the web to promote my work
This is defintley my weak point, at the moment I have 4 film trailers of my work including my reel on youtube.com/duranfilms but other than that I don't know what else to do

Eddie if you can get in touch with me, I'll give you a presentation of the PPV solution as well as The Filmmakers Channel distribution strategy. The Filmmakers Channel is located at Www.TheFilmmakersChannel.Com and though access isn't enabled yet, you can check out a sample and fill out the contact form with your information and I or Anthony Dellaflora (co founder of Duke City Shootout) will get in touch.

I'm very interested in that, As a matther of fact I have a film that I haven't sold to any distributor, is it something that can be shown on the PPV? The Movie is SHOES I've been interested in alternative distribution for a long time now. The trailer is on youtube.com/duranfilms (Shoes II) is the trailer.

I know this is the million dollar question but as a filmmaker I have to ask. Within this network are their investors looking to make movies? I ask because I've come across a sure fire way of making monies back and more, on low budget films, the only thing is that your movie has to be shot in the Dominican Republic and in Spanish. It's not a scam of any kind, there are government assistant programs and tax ensentives that you can really benefit from because they want to develope a film community out there. They are fans of great cinema in the D.R. But there's no crossover talent like there is in Mexican cinema. I've made a few trips out there and I've witness the possibilities with my own eyes example: I know 2 features of the many that have been produced there, both on $500,000 dollar budgets and within the country alone they've made over $500,000 theatrically one over a million the other 700,000 and growing daily (now that's almost unheard of in the states) and yet they can't get a decent straight-to-video distributor to pick up there films in the states.

Now my mission is to shoot a super hot ass film in the D.R. along the lines of "Amores Perros" make a killing there and bring it into the states and do the same here, I just need an Executive Producer with "cojones" who wants to make a fantastic foreign indie block buster film.

Hey Eddie,
PPV is short for pay-per-view, which is really the first thing that got us involved in the web, creating this site was part of what I discovered as a needed step for a place to share knowledge and help get productions finished and distributed profitably. For instance I would love to have you post your promo video in the discussions, so I can promote it through the social networks while showing you and other members how to help each other.
"A rising tide lifts all ships."
That's our battle cry here at filmmakershelp.
